1. Master on board a vessel of not more than 150 gross tonnage engaged on a near coastal voyage, Class 2; and
2. Master on board a vessel of not more than 500 gross tonnage engaged on a sheltered waters voyage;
3. Master on board a vessel of not more than 150 gross tonnage engaged on a limited voyage, contiguous waters, if endorsed as such.

An Applicant for a Master 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate of Competency or an Endorsement shall be at least 18 years of age on the day on which they receive the Certificate or Endorsement and meet the following requirements:

1. After having reached 16 years of age, acquire the following sea service performing deck duties on board one or more vessels of at least 5 gross tonnage;
   
   1. if the applicant has successfully completed a Transport Canada approved training program,
      
      1. at least 12 months performing deck duties; or
      2. at least 6 months performing deck duties while holding a Chief Mate 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate.
   2. if the vessels on which the service was acquired were required to have on board a chief mate, at least 6 months as chief mate while holding a Chief Mate 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate; or
   3. In all other cases:
      
      1. at least 24 months performing deck duties; or
      2. at least 12 months performing deck duties while holding a Chief Mate 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate; or
      3. an equivalent prorated combination of the requirements set out in paragraph (b) and subparagraph (c)(ii).
2. Provide the following Certificates to the examiner.
   
   1. Marine Emergency Duties with respect to STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate;
   2. Marine Emergency Duties with Respect to Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Training Certificate;
   3. Marine Emergency Duties in Advanced Fire Fighting Training Certificate;
   4. GMDSS Radio Operator Certificate - Marine Commercial;
   5. Simulated Electronic Navigation, Limited Training Certificate; and
   6. Marine Advanced First Aid.
3. Pass the following examinations:
   
   1. Chartwork and Pilotage, Level 2;
   2. Meteorology, Level 1;
   3. Ship Construction and Stability, Level 3;
   4. General Ship Knowledge, Level 3;
   5. Navigation Safety, Level 1; and
   6. Oral examination on General Seamanship, after meeting the other requirements above.

An applicant for a Limited, Contiguous Waters Voyage endorsement to a Master 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate shall:

Acquire the following amount of sea service on board one or more vessels of at least 5 gross tonnage while the vessels are engaged on voyages other than sheltered waters voyages, which service, in part or in whole, may have been counted toward meeting the 'Certificates to be Provided' requirements listed above:

1. at least 12 months; or
2. at least 6 months if the applicant has successfully completed a Transport Canada Approved Training Program.
