Due to the recent Vaccine Passport Requirements in British Columbia, Western Maritime Institute has implemented internal policies and procedures, effective October 1st, 2021. Below is our new Vaccine Passport policy:

Policy

  1. Effective 12 October 2021 anyone attending classes and all instructors and staff of Western Maritime Institute (WMI) are required to produce proof of a single vaccination for COVID-19 prior to entering school premises to attend classes or work.
  2. The only acceptable proof of vaccination will be the Provincial Vaccine Card (also known as the Vaccine Passport).
  3. The BC Vaccine Card is available at https://www.healthgateway.gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard
  4. Effective 22 November anyone attending classes and all instructors and staff of Western Maritime Institute will be required to produce proof of two vaccinations prior to entering school premises for classes or work.
  5. The Vaccine Card will be scanned and a record of the number of vaccines will be kept on file by WMI until such time as the Provincial Health Officer deems vaccine cards unnecessary plus 6 months.
  6. Students will be required to give permission of WMI to maintain vaccine status records. This permission will be granted during the enrollment process when the enrollment paperwork is completed.
  7. If a student, instructor or staff member cannot produce proof of vaccination as required by this policy they will be denied access to the campus.
  8. The onus lies on the student, instructor or staff member to provide proof of vaccine. WMI WILL NOT procure or assist in acquiring vaccine cards.
  9. Any contractor i.e. plumber, electrician etc. who has to work inside any of WMI’s buildings for more than three days will be required to produce proof of vaccination.
