Western Maritime Institute is a private marine training facility in Cassidy BC, near Nanaimo Airport. We are expanding and need construction work completed to build a new single-story entrance to our main campus building connecting two adjacent buildings under an existing roof.
The dimensions of the project are approximately 22 x 40 feet (or 7 x 12 metres) and will use the existing roof structure. The respondent will be required to build footings and walls under the existing roof and replace the existing tar and gravel roof. The project requires entirely new wiring including data/network cabling. HVAC will be required and there will be a double set of commercial doors in the new entrance. A hazmat assessment has been completed and there is abatement for paint and asbestos required as the adjoining buildings are approximately 50 years old. The approved design and most of the building permit work has already been completed with the Regional District of Nanaimo as the project was started two years ago and stopped due to COVID.
It is preferred that construction commence in late April 2022 and be completed by early September of 2022.
